The major purpose of the Software Engineering and Management Information Technologies Department of the National Technical University “KhPI” has always been a fundamental training of specialists in the field of software engineering and information technology. This approach has been formed at the base of the department and proved its value in the following years. Many graduates have become well-known scientists, university professors, heads of large companies and organizations, they have gained considerable success in the business, also they work in leading companies of the Ukrainian and international IT industry. The department’s key to success in science and education is:

- a high level of students training in mathematics, information technology and foreign languages ​​on the basis of a careful selection of applicants;

- the professionalism of the lecturing staff of the department, which is completely formed from the best graduates;

- a high level of modern technology equipment.

The department practice an implementation and defense of course and diploma works in foreign languages ​​under the guidance of lecturers who completed training and apprenticeship in the USA, Germany and Austria. Students as part of exchange groups have the opportunity to study in foreign universities – partners of our university: Technical University of Hamburg (Germany), University of Klagenfurt (Austria), Technical University of Magdeburg (Germany), and other foreign universities. The branch department of the “Telesens Ukraine” company – educational scientific-industrial complex “Silicon Valley” is opened. Since 2016 the dual approach to education that allows our students to combine effectively theoretical training with practical employment in partner firms of the department is implemented at the master course’s level. The task of the SEMIT department is the training of specialists of the highest possible standard in the field of computer science and software engineering on a world-wide basis and the department successfully realizes this goal.
